The Bathroom  The Maid's Quarters

The bathroom is Todd's favorite room. When we don't have guests, Todd goes to the Maid's Quarters to shower. It's a crisp clean room, with the same white-washed terra-cota tile that runs through the kitchen and hallway. The shower is newly tiled, and the sink and all fixtures are also shiny and new. The toilet is a nice old thing, located within a private stall (door at left of photo).

The water in the Maid's Quarters is caught on the roof, and funnelled through a gutter system into a large catchment tank in the yard. It is then pumped into the cottage on demand, by the turn of a faucet or flush of the toilet. All of Volcano uses this system of catchment, as there is no county water service. It's lovely to shower in rain water. There is a triple filter system to clean the water for drinking.
