The bathroom is a crisp clean room, with the same white-washed terra-cota tile that runs through the kitchen and hallway. The shower is newly tiled, and the sink and all fixtures are also shiny and new. The toilet is a nice old thing, located within a private stall (door at left of photo). The soap provided to our guests is handmade in Volcano with pure natural ingredients by Christine Chun of Tree Hugger Products. If you like the soap, you can find Christine at the Volcano Farmers' Market on Sunday mornings, selling her products from 6:30 to 9:30. The Farmers' Market is noted on our local maps page, and is a "not to miss" event for guests staying over the weekends. The water in the Maid's Quarters is caught on the roof, and funnelled through a gutter system into a large redwood catchment tank in the yard. It is then pumped into the cottage on demand, by the turn of a faucet or flush of the toilet. All of Volcano uses this system of catchment, as there is no county water service. It's lovely to shower in rain water. There is a triple filter system to clean the water for drinking. |
